Ray Barror, owner of Ard Carraig House, moved from living in the suburbs of Dublin almost three years ago. Since coming to Hollywood my life has changed without any shadow of doubt for the better. Life in west Wicklow whether in summer or winter is indeed therapeutic in itself.
The house is surrounded by gently rolling hills, with stunning views for miles and miles from the back of the house. Sunsets year round are positively spectacular ( weather permitting).
As part of the new lifestyle, hobby farming has become a feature with
a stock of two Falabella ponies, 'Doc' the donkey ( my best pal), 'Lar'
the pet sheep (she follows me everywhere I go) and 'Zip', the most gentle
and kindest dog you'd ever meet. She's even afraid of Lar! We'll shortly
have a new arrival in the form of a calf, who will eventually be joined
by some new hens. The last ones were all eaten by the fox at Christmas
when I went away. There are of course lots of other 'seasonal guests'
which can be seen such as deer, foxes, rabbits and badgers.
