All you have to do is step out into the lane outside the gate and within a matter of a few hundred yards you can find yourself in the middle of beautiful forest walks. If you prefer something a bit more energetic, you can climb the Broughills Hill right behind the house where you have a magnificent view of the Blessington lakes and can see for absolutely miles.
A twenty-minute drive will to take you to the Glen of Immal where you
can climb Lugnaquilla (Ireland's third highest mountain). The round
trip up and down is about four hours and offers even more breathtaking
views of the Glen and the surrounding countryside.
For those who are interested in golf or horse riding, Rathsallagh Golf
Club and Tulfarris Golf clubs are a short drive away. A bit further
down the road is the K club for those who want a bit of style as well
as golf. Several riding stables in the area cater for the horsy set.
Instead of bringing a pack lunch, when going riding, just bring a nosebag!
To finish off the evening after dinner, a trip to Tutty's authentic
old 'sawdust and spit' pub
in Hollywood village is well worth a trip. Frequently impromptu Irish
music sessions take place and if there's no music there, nip across
the road to The Hollywood Inn for a bit of entertainment. Failing that...I'll
sing a few songs for you!
